Caring for your collection

MADE TO BE WORN AND COLLECT A LIFE ALONGSIDE YOU.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY JEWELRY?

Wear it often, just treat it thoughtfully.

Solid gold will last a lifetime, but it is also a naturally soft precious metal. Scratches, small marks, and patination are expected as your jewelry is worn. As pieces naturally evolve over time, they become uniquely yours.

Gemstones require a little extra attention. Avoid hard knocks and abrasive surfaces, and be mindful that some gemstones are more delicate or sensitive to heat, harsh chemicals, and sudden temperature changes than others.

Store jewelry in a cool, dry jewelry box, or in the original Her Daughter Studio packaging.

WHEN SHOULD I REMOVE MY JEWELRY?

Fine jewelry can be durable, but not indestructible.

We recommend removing your pieces before:

  • Exercising or lifting weights
  • Swimming in pools, hot tubs, or the ocean
  • Sleeping
  • Showering or bathing
  • Gardening or other manual work
  • Cleaning with household chemicals
  • Applying lotions, perfume, hairspray, or other beauty products
  • Any activity where your jewelry may be pulled, hit, bent, or caught

HOW SHOULD I STORE & CLEAN MY PIECES AT HOME?

When you’re not wearing your jewelry, store it somewhere clean and dry. We recommend keeping pieces in their original Her Daughter Studio pouch or box and storing them separately from one another whenever possible.

For most solid-gold, gemstones, and diamond jewelry, you can gently clean your piece using lukewarm water, mild dish soap, and a soft bristled toothbrush. Rinse carefully and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Always clean jewelry over a bowl rather than directly over an open drain. We recommend cleaning frequently worn jewelry every 1-2 weeks.

DO YOU OFFER REPAIRS?

Yes. Jewelry is made to be lived in, and sometimes a well-loved piece needs a little attention.

Her Daughter Studio can assess repairs including loose settings, damaged components, broken chains or clasps, and other wear-related issues.

To request a repair, contact our team with your order information, photographs of the piece, and a description.

Once we’ve evaluated the piece, we’ll provide next steps along with any applicable repair and associated fee.

Please note if another  jeweler has worked on a repair, resize, polish, refinish, or otherwise altered an HDS piece, we will not be able to assist in repairs.

THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE...

Wear it.

Our pieces should accompany you throughout life. It should be part of dinners and trips and ordinary Tuesdays; celebrations, changes, and everything in between.

A little wear is part of your bigger story.
